Do I need Google Workspace SSO for B2B customers?

Not necessarily.
For B2B customers, you usually need SSO only if the customer requires it as part of their security/compliance policy. Many B2B buyers will want one of these:
- SAML SSO with their identity provider (Google Workspace, Okta, Azure AD / Entra, OneLogin, etc.)
- SCIM for user provisioning/deprovisioning
- Domain-based login controls or managed accounts
When Google Workspace SSO specifically matters
Google Workspace SSO is useful if your customers:
- already use Google Workspace as their identity provider
- want employees to sign in with their company Google account
- need centralized access management and offboarding
But you don’t need Google Workspace SSO if:
- your customers use other IdPs
- you support a different SSO standard like SAML/OIDC
- you’re selling to smaller businesses that are fine with email/password or magic link login
Practical rule
If you’re building a B2B SaaS product, the common approach is:
- Start with basic auth
- Add enterprise SSO when larger customers ask for it
- Support SAML/OIDC, not just Google Workspace specifically
If you want, I can help you decide whether to build:
- Google-only SSO
- generic SAML SSO
- or no SSO yet based on your customer profile.
