Prompt
How do I use a no-code builder to publish a website with a custom domain?
Latest observation
Here’s the usual process for publishing a no-code website on a custom domain:
1) Build your site
Create your pages in the no-code builder, then preview and make sure everything looks right on desktop and mobile.
2) Connect your custom domain
In the builder’s Site Settings / Domain / Publishing area, look for an option like:
- Connect custom domain
- Add domain
- Use existing domain
Enter the domain you want, such as yourdomain.com.
3) Update DNS at your domain registrar
Your builder will give you DNS instructions. Commonly you’ll need to add one or more of these at your registrar (where you bought the domain, like GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.):
- A record pointing the root domain (
@) to an IP address - CNAME record pointing
wwwto a target likeyour-site.builder.com - Sometimes TXT records for verification
Example:
@→ A record →123.123.123.123www→ CNAME →your-site.builder.com
4) Wait for DNS to propagate
DNS changes can take from a few minutes up to 24–48 hours, though often it’s much faster.
5) Set the primary domain and publish
In the builder, choose whether you want:
www.yourdomain.comas the primary domain, oryourdomain.com(apex/root domain)
Then click Publish or Deploy.
6) Enable SSL/HTTPS
Most builders automatically issue a free SSL certificate after DNS is correct. Make sure:
- HTTPS is enabled
- Both
http://andhttps://redirect properly to your main domain
Common tips
- If your builder gives you an IP address, use an A record
- If it gives you a hostname, use a CNAME
- Some registrars have special handling for the root domain (
@) - If you use Cloudflare, you may need to disable proxying temporarily during setup
If you want, I can also give you:
- a step-by-step example for a specific platform like Webflow, Framer, Wix, or Squarespace, or
- a DNS setup guide for your registrar.
